Summer Recreation Back On
Noting that he isn’t worried about the town’s ability to find a few thousand dollars in the budget, Town Administrator Matthew Wojcik suggested to the Town Council, at its excruciatingly long meeting tonight, that the town should revive the less-structured, part-time summer parks program for Tiverton children.
In keeping with the suggestions made on this site on May 30, Wojcik recommended treating the new all-day summer camp as a “pilot program.” (Recreation Committee Chairwoman Susan Gill announced at the meeting that the all-day summer camp is now up to 16 participants.)
The fee for the regular recreation program that has been offered in previous years will go up, from $75 for the whole summer to $100 for the whole summer (with $75 for additional siblings) As suggested in the prior post on Tiverton Fact Check, that fee increase has the potential to make the program self-sustaining, or relatively close to it, if attendance is similar to prior years
